Evil Eye is associated with the eyes and looking from these eyes throughout the history. According to evil eye superstition, negative thoughts and glares comes out of eyes. To protect from evil eyes, the people carry things like shape of eye which reflect negative thoughts, glares and bad luck. Therefore; in many cultures, people carry evil eye with them and they believe that evil eye symbol is based on good luck, happiness, protection and safe. “Evil eye” is called nazar boncuk | matiasma | malocchio | maldeojo | mati in different cultures and languages.
Making Nazar Boncuk – Evil Eye:
Glass is obviously the main substance of the evil eye beads. The producers use waste glasses or broken glasswares to produce evil eye bead. Evil eye beads are made in 600-800 degree heated ovens. Traditional evil eye producers prepare their own paintings – generally using opal, zinc and cobalt for coloring. The main color of evil eye bead is BLUE and the main shape is ROUND.
